Our Story
From its 19th-century beginnings to its reimagining today, Provenance Estate carries forward a legacy of heritage, hospitality, and Hunt Country tradition.

Rooted in History, Reimagined for Today
The story of Provenance Estate begins in the mid-1800s, when a Georgian manor was built on 121 acres of rolling Virginia farmland. For generations, the property—once known as Mortgage Hall—stood as a symbol of Hunt Country life, surrounded by horses, farmland, and timeless countryside beauty.
Today, as Provenance Estate, the manor and its grounds have been thoughtfully reimagined. Still steeped in history, the estate now blends tradition with modern hospitality, offering bourbon tastings, barrel pick experiences, retreats, and celebrations that honor both past and present.

From Mortgage Hall to Provenance Estate
Once a private residence and working farm, the estate has grown into a destination for connection and celebration. Its new name and focus on communal bourbon experiences, Provenance Estate, reflects both heritage and forward vision—a place where history informs every experience.

The Spirit of Provenance
Every corner of the estate tells a story—from the manor and barrel houses to the Great Hall and open fields. More than a venue, Provenance Estate is a living testament to Virginia’s Hunt Country traditions, carried forward through hospitality, bourbon, and unforgettable experiences.
